Fabric & Care
Cotton is made to be lived in. A little care keeps it honest, and the rest it does on its own — softening a shade with every wash.
- The nature of the cloth
Ours is a woven, breathable 100% cotton with a smooth, even hand. The colour is in the yarn rather than printed on, so washing softens the cloth without fading the stripe or the check. Over time and use it only grows softer and more yours.
- Washing
A cold-to-warm gentle machine wash is all it asks for. Wash with like colours and a mild detergent.
Skip the bleach, and skip the fabric softener too — the fibres soften naturally, and softener only coats them and dulls that over time.
- Drying & ironing
Line dry in the shade, or tumble dry on low and lift it out while there is still a little life left in it. Direct sun over many washes can flatten the calm of the colour.
Iron warm while slightly damp if you like a crisp finish, or leave it relaxed and softly creased — both are true to the cloth.
- First wash & living with it
Expect a little settling early on: the weave relaxes, the hand softens, and there may be the faintest give in size as it finds its shape. This is the fabric coming into its own.
A gentle reshape and smooth while damp is all it needs to sit well on the bed.
- Storage
Keep pieces somewhere cool, dry and able to breathe. For anything put away over a season, choose a cloth bag or an open shelf over plastic — natural fibres like a little air, and long spells sealed in plastic can trap moisture and dull them.
A question about a particular piece, or how it will wear? We are happy to talk it through.
